CORRECTION

In my article (Z. N. Dobrovolskaya, “On the character of the contact of the free surface of a liquid with a solid boundary in the problem of wedge penetration,” published in DAN, vol. 153, No. 4, 1963), in the analysis of equation (4.3) an elementary error was made, to which S. S. Grigoryan kindly drew attention. In connection with this, the conclusion that the contact angle \(\beta = \pi/2\) is incorrect; this, however, does not affect the possibility of reducing the general solution of the problem to the integration of a singular integral equation for a real function.

Let us note that in fact \(0 \leqslant \beta \leqslant \pi/4\), and the free surface can have, at the contact point, a finite curvature different from zero only when \(\beta = \pi/6\).
