Letter to the Editor
After my article “On the representation of solvable groups by matrices over a field of characteristic zero,” published in Doklady Akademii Nauk, vol. 188, no. 3, 1969, had been submitted to the editorial office, there appeared the article by Yu. I. Merzlyakov, “On the matrix representation of automorphisms, extensions, and solvable groups” (Algebra and Logic, Seminar, 7, no. 3, 63 (1968)), which essentially contains Theorem 1; the article by V. M. Kopylov, “On matrix groups” (Algebra and Logic, Seminar, 7, no. 3, 51 (1968)), which contains a consequence of Theorem 1 of my work; and the article by V. N. Remeslennikov, “Representation of finitely generated metabelian groups by matrices” (Algebra and Logic, Seminar, 8, no. 1, 72 (1969)), which gives a generalization of Theorem 3 from my work.
I offer the above-mentioned authors my apologies for the references not made in due time.
